About

Hello, thanks for stopping by my blog about Christian missions!  My name is Dave Young, and I live in the Chicago metro area.  I had spent most of my childhood in church, but I began to slip into trouble in my early adolescent years.  After becoming involved with my church’s youth group, I rededicated my life to the Lord. Everything went up from that point on.

At the age of 14, I went on a short-term missions trip to Jamaica.  It  completely changed me forever.  Within ten short days of ministry in Jamaica’s mountain villages and streets, I received an infusion of what the Great Commission is all about. Through 1-on-1 street ministry alone, 400 people gave their lives to Christ and we saw numerous healings as we ministered.

Throughout high school, I was very active with my youth group’s outreach team.  We mostly did door-to-door and street evangelism in the Chicago suburbs of South Holland and Harvey.  We also were involved with some outreaches on Chicago’s southside.  In 2001, we went to Los Angeles to work with Youth Link of America, a ministry geared to homeless teens in Hollywood.  We also did ministry in LA’s infamous Skid Row.   It was awesome to see people give their lives to the Lord regardless of their circumstances.

After graduating college in 2007, I joined John Smithwick Ministries International on a team trip to South Africa’s squatter camps.  It was my first foreign mission trip since 1999, and the people in the camps were so open to receive the Gospel.  I truly felt God’s heart for the lost. That experience opened my eyes to mass evangelism and only emboldened me to pursue the call that God has placed on my life.

ABOUT THIS BLOG

I created this blog to bring a greater focus on missions work.  It is my objective to encourage people to let God take control and go beyond their limits to step out into God’s plan for their life.  I do not view myself as an “expert missionary”, but merely a fellow Christian who is in the same process of discovery as you may be,.  There is still so much to learn and do!

I will be blogging about past short-term mission trips, and providing info on a plethora of missions related topics.  I hope this blog can be of some value, and feel free to engage by writing comments or email me.
